Forming Questions in Present Continuous Tense

  • To form a question in the present continuous tense, we use the auxiliary verb "are" (for plural subjects) or "is" (for singular subjects) followed by the subject and the present participle of the main verb (e.g. "singing", "celebrating", etc.).
  • Correct question form for "They are singing" is "What are they doing?" or "Are they singing?"
  • Correct question form for "They are celebrating" is "What are they doing?" or "Are they celebrating?"
  • Correct question form for "The baby is sleeping" is "What is the baby doing?" or "Is the baby sleeping?"
