Prakash Javadekar
Prakash Javadekar is an Indian politician who was born on April 7th, 1951. He has been serving as the Minister of Environment, Forests & Climate Change since May 30th, 2019, following his appointment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prior to this role, he served as India's Human Resource Development minister from July 2016 to September 2017 under PM Modi. Before entering politics, Prakash worked with information technology companies such as Wipro Technologies Ltd. His political career began when he became a member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. In addition to his current position, Mr Javadekar also holds the post of President of the BJP Media Department.
One notable achievement during his tenure was the introduction of the Right to Education Act, which made it mandatory for all children between six and fourteen years old to go to school, including government schools. This legislation aimed to bridge the gaps in education accessibility across rural areas and urban slums within India, making education more inclusive.
In terms of environmental policy, Prakash has introduced several initiatives related to climate change, forestry, wildlife protection, conservation, and sustainable development.
