- All personnel must wear appropriate PPE in hazardous areas during emergencies or training.

- Incident Commanders (IC) can permit reduced PPE levels (e.g., removing coats and hoods) when safety is assured post-incident.
- Structural Fire Fighting PPE is mandatory for:
- All fire incidents unless lightweight PPE is justified by the company officer.
- Situations necessitating Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) like hazardous materials incidents.
- EMS calls with significant risks of body fluid exposure.
- Lightweight fire resistive PPE may be issued for specific conditions such as:
- Wildland fires
- Auto extrication rescues
- EMS incidents without body fluid exposure risk
