What is PowerPoint?
- A graphical presentation program used to organize and present information
- Consists of several individual pages or "Slides" that can contain text, graphics, sound, movies, and other objects
- Slides can be freely arranged and presented in various ways, such as printed, displayed live on a computer, or projected onto a large screen
Creating New Presentations
- Three options to open a presentation: New, Open, and Recent
- New option allows creation of a Blank presentation, use of Templates and Themes, or creation from an existing presentation
- Blank presentation creates a new presentation using default settings for text and color, without content or design elements
- Templates and Themes create a new presentation based on pre-designed slide styles, without content
- New from existing uses the formatting of a previously created presentation
PowerPoint 2016 Editing Window (Normal View)
- Normal View features several commonly used Tabs, Panes, and Tools
- The Ribbon replaces the menu bar and groups items that are most likely to be used together
- Frequently used tabs include File, Home, Insert, Design, and View
