    Postpartum Period

    • The postpartum period refers to the first six weeks after delivery.

    Rubin's Theory of Maternal Role Adaptation

    • The mother goes through three stages during the postpartum period:
      • Taking-In
      • Taking-Hold
      • Letting Go

    Taking-In

    • This is the first stage after a baby is born. It begins as soon as a woman gives birth.
