Policy 325 - Performance of Duties
- The New Lenox Fire Protection District policy establishes expectations for members' daily performance.
- The goal is to provide safe and appropriate responses to emergencies and for members to offer professional and competent services.
- All members must be familiar with and adhere to policies, standard operating procedures, job descriptions, assigned duties, and lawful instructions from superiors.
- Upon any emergency alarm, all members must immediately cease activities, report to their assigned apparatus, respond promptly to the dispatched fire or emergency, and make every reasonable effort to perform to the best of their abilities.
- Members are expected to maintain the highest standards of efficiency while performing their duties.
- Unsatisfactory performance may include:
- Excessive or unauthorized leave
- Tardiness
- Lack of knowledge
- Failure to meet work standards for their position
- Any failure to demonstrate good conduct
- Insubordination
- Noncompliance with department policies, guidelines, and orders
- All members must take reasonable safety precautions and use good judgment to avoid injury to themselves or others while on duty.
- Members must report or prevent unsafe behavior.
- Every member is required to hold a valid state-issued driver’s license and have the necessary training for their assigned duties.
- Members must be familiar with the state vehicle code, department-specific driving manuals, and other relevant department policies and procedures.
- Any changes in driver’s license status must be reported to the supervisor.
