Hold
- Holds are requests from an outside agency.
- The department investigates the incident in question and releases the hold.
Processing
- Vehicles can be held for processing only, or for other reasons, such as an arrest, or an investigation.
- A legal reason for impoundment must exist.
Offense or Citation Number
- The officer must include a case, offense, incident or citation number on vehicle storage receipts.
Property Receipt Number
- The officer must include a property receipt number when applicable.
Reason for Hold
- An explanation for the hold order must be documented on the vehicle storage receipt.
Vehicles to be Processed by I.D.
- Vehicles to be processed must be impounded.
- The recovering officer must advise the Property Specialist on duty and provide CID information about the vehicle.
