Attrition and Retirement
- Police officers may be separated due to inefficiency after two consecutive annual rating periods
- Possible appointment statuses in the police service are: Permanent, Temporary, and Probationary

- Police officers can retire optionally after accumulating 20 years of satisfactory service
- Police personnel dismissed under the attrition system will be retired if they have rendered at least 20 years of service
Internal Affairs Service (IAS)
- Complaints against IAS personnel should be filed with NAPOLCOM
- IAS conducts summary hearings only upon request
- IAS conducts investigations into incidents involving seriously injured suspects in police custody "motu proprio"
- Appeals from the National Office of IAS decisions go to NAB
- Women's Desk handles cases involving crimes against chastity, sexual harassment, and abuse against women and children
- The Head of the IAS is a civilian
Disciplinary Mechanism
- The PNP disciplinary mechanism is composed of three processes:
- Internal disciplinary machinery
- Concurrent disciplinary machinery
- Exclusive Jurisdiction: Complaint or charge filed against a PNP member is heard and decided exclusively by the disciplinary authority that first acquired jurisdiction
- Summary Dismissal Authorities:
- NAPOLCOM, PNP Chief and PNP Regional Director can immediately remove or dismiss PNP members in the following cases:
- Serious charge with strong evidence of guilt
- Recidivist or has been repeatedly charged with reasonable grounds to believe they are guilty
- Guilty of conduct unbecoming of a police officer
- NAPOLCOM, PNP Chief and PNP Regional Director can immediately remove or dismiss PNP members in the following cases:
- Recidivist: PNP member previously penalized for at least 3 months suspension or sentenced for a crime involving arresto mayor or above who is charged again with a grave offense
- Conduct Unbecoming of a Police Officer: Any PNP member behavior or action, in official or private capacity, that dishonors or disgraces them as a PNP member and indicates vitiated or corrupt moral character
