Study Notes
Floating Panel Overview
- Each panel has a menu located at the top-right corner, identified by four lines and a downward-pointing triangle.
- Clicking this panel menu reveals additional options.
Default Panel Groups
- Photoshop starts with three docked panel groups:
- First group: Color and Swatches panels
- Second group: Adjustments and Styles
- Third group: Layers, Channels, and Paths
- Panels can be activated by clicking their tabs.
Panel Management
- Panels are flexible and can be collapsed, expanded, moved, and resized.
- To collapse or expand panels:
- Horizontal Collapse: Click the double arrow in the top-right corner.
- Vertical Collapse: Double-click the panel tab to roll up, single-click to roll down.
Adding and Modifying Panels
- More panels can be added via the Window menu at the top of the application.
- Selected panels appear in a column on the left with a button to collapse them.
Undocking and Redocking Panels
- Panels can be freely moved on the screen:
- Drag the panel tab to undock it and reposition as needed.
- To redock, drag the panel back to the top until a blue indication appears.
Customizing Workspace
- Workspaces can be customized by arranging frequently used tools and panels.
- Preset workspaces include:
- Essentials: Default for general use
- New in CS6: Features introduced in CS6
- Motion: For video editing
- Painting: For painting tasks
- Photography: For photo editing
- Typography: For text-related work
- To save a custom workspace:
- Arrange panels as desired, then access the Workspace menu to select New Workspace.
- Name the workspace in the dialog box and click Save.
Deleting Unwanted Workspaces
- Workspaces that are no longer useful can be deleted from the workspace menu by selecting an alternative workspace before removal.
