Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012 (RA 10354)
- Often called the RH Law, it guarantees universal access to methods like contraception, fertility control, sexual education, and maternal care.
- Reproductive Health (RH): The state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being relating to the reproductive system and its functions. It emphasizes responsible, safe, consensual, and satisfying sex life.
Pillars of Reproductive Health
- Pillar 1: Informed Choice: Guarantees access to effective, quality, safe, legal, accessible, and affordable reproductive healthcare services and sexuality and reproductive health education in schools and other educational settings.
- Pillar 2: Respect for Life: Acknowledges abortion is illegal and punishable by law. Mothers who have aborted an unborn child receive post-abortive treatment and counseling in a humane, nonjudgmental, compassionate manner.
- Pillar 3: Birth Control: Provides access to reproductive healthcare, information, and supplies, especially to low-income individuals. Respects individual choices and preferences in family planning.
- Pillar 4: Responsible Parenthood: Enables couples to determine their ideal family size. Supports parents with needed information in all aspects of family life and reproductive health.
Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 1998 (RA 8504)
- Creates policies and measures to prevent and control HIV/AIDS in the Philippines.
