Includes toxic, highly toxic, corrosive, irritant, strong sensitizer substances, and their mixtures that can cause injury during handling or use. Does not include radioactive substances, economic poisons subject to the federal insecticide, fungicide, and rodenticide act or the state pesticide act, foods, drugs, and cosmetics subject to state or federal law, or substances intended for fuels stored in containers and used in residential heating, cooking, or refrigeration. This subdivision applies to substances that, while not economic poisons, contain a poison or hazardous substance.

    • Practice of Pharmacy: Providing drug therapy and patient care services, including interpreting, evaluating, and dispensing prescription orders, compounding drugs, labeling drugs and devices, participating in drug selection and utilization reviews, drug administration, drug-related research, drug therapy monitoring or management, patient counseling, drug and device storage, and record maintenance. Failing to pass a board-approved pharmacist licensure examination (for pharmacists or interns) or pharmacy technician licensure examination (for technicians or trainees) can constitute professional incompetence, depending on other factors.

    • Radioactive Substance: A substance that emits ionizing radiation.

    • Remote Dispensing Site Pharmacy: A pharmacy where a pharmacy technician or intern prepares, compounds, or dispenses prescription medications under remote supervision by a pharmacist.

    • Remote Hospital-Site Pharmacy: A pharmacy located in a satellite facility operating under the license of the hospital of which it is a satellite.

    • Remote Supervision by a Pharmacist: A pharmacist directing and controlling the actions of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns through audio and visual technology.

    • Third-Party Logistics Provider: An entity providing or coordinating warehousing and logistics services for drugs, devices, poisons, precursors, and regulated chemicals, but not taking ownership of the goods.
