Two-Point Turnabout: Backing into Driveway (Right Side)
- Check traffic flow behind before proceeding.
- Signal right and position 2-3 feet from curb.
- Drive past the driveway, stop, then shift to reverse.
- Monitor path while backing in, turning the wheel to the right.
- Center vehicle in driveway, wheels straight, and stop.

Two-Point Turnabout: Pulling into Driveway (Left Side)
- Check traffic flow before starting.
- Signal left and position 3-6 inches from center line.

- Signal right as you back slowly, turning right to exit.
- Center in the roadway, shift to drive, check traffic, and accelerate.
Three-Point Turn
- Stop near the right edge/curb; find a 20-30 second gap.
- Signal left and move slowly forward while turning left rapidly.
- Stop when front wheels near the curb, check traffic.
- Shift into reverse, turn the wheel right while backing up.
- Shift to drive, signal intent, and accelerate to normal speed.
Midblock U-Turn
- Ensure local and state laws allow this maneuver.
- Requires a wide space and is considered high risk.
U-Turn at an Intersection
- Start in the left lane closest to the center line/median.
- Complete the turn in the farthest right lane of opposite traffic.
- Accelerate to the appropriate speed after the turn.
Parking on a Hill: Facing Downhill (With or Without Curb)
- Position vehicle 6 inches from the curb.
- Allow car to roll forward, turning sharply to the right until the tire touches the curb.
- Shift into park (automatic) or reverse (manual).
- Engage the parking brake.
Parking on a Hill: Facing Uphill (With No Curb)
- Drive off the roadway, stopping on the shoulder.
- Turn wheels away from traffic.
- Shift into park (automatic) or first gear (manual).
- Engage the parking brake.
Parking on a Hill: Facing Uphill (With Curb)
- Position vehicle 6 inches from the curb and stop.
- Turn the wheel away from the curb, allowing slow backward motion until the tire touches the curb.
- Shift into park (automatic) or first gear (manual).
- Engage the parking brake.
Angle Parking
- Start 2-3 feet from the curb, activating the right turn signal.
- Turn the wheel fully right when the right side mirror aligns with the first white line.
- Straighten wheel once the front is within the parking lines, then move forward.
- Stop when the right side mirror aligns with the curb.
Perpendicular Parking (Left Side)
- Get close to the opposite side (right side).
- Signal left and begin turning when the left side mirror is on the white line.
- Turn the wheel fully right when the nose is in the spot, then straighten out.
Exiting Angle and Perpendicular Parking
- Signal right and pull straight out.
- Wait until the side view mirror clears the end of the spot before turning the wheel.
- If parked next to another car, wait until the mirror is at the end of that car.
Parallel Parking
- Position in lane position 3 and signal right.
