- Supply chain management integrates activities to procure materials/services, transform them into products, and deliver them to customers.
- Competition is now between supply chains, not just companies.
What Keeps the World Going?
- Logistics keeps supply chains running.
- Without supply chains, there is no life.
- Supply chains are present behind every product, service, and event.
What is a Supply Chain?
- Encompasses all stages (directly or indirectly) to fulfill customer requests.
- Includes manufacturers, suppliers, transporters, warehouses, retailers, and customers.
- Within each company, the supply chain includes functions like product development, marketing, operations, distribution, finance and customer service.
