Omaha Police Welfare and Benefit Association (OPWBA)
- OPWBA is a 501(c)(4) entity, supporting Omaha Police officers and their families
- Purpose: Preserve officer integrity, foster cooperation with the police department, promote health/recreation/social activities, improve public relations, and conduct other lawful activities
- OPWBA is an affiliate of the Omaha Police Department (OPD) and authorized to use its symbols
- Membership eligibility: All sworn OPD officers
- Funding: Dues, investments, merchandise sales
- Enrolment: Contact a Board Director and complete a membership application
- Governance: 11 elected officer members form the Board of Directors, serving two-year terms.
- Wellness Benefit: Paid to members with 20+ years of membership, potentially up to $100/year, maximum $3000. Members with fewer years may receive early payment at the board's discretion
- Death Benefit: $3000 for officers killed in the line of duty, regardless of years of membership. This is in addition to any other potential benefit.
