• The performance of the activity is graded on the basis of Visual Elements, Content, Creativity, Efforts, and Overall Presentation

Kenneth Cobonpue

• An award-winning furniture designer and manufacturer originally from Cebu, Philippines
• Began his design journey in 1987 at the Pratt Institute in New York, studying Industrial Design
• Cobonpue apprenticed at a leather and wood workshop near Florence, Italy
• He studied Furniture Marketing and Production in Reutlingen, Germany
• He worked in Bielefeld and Munich
• Cobonpue returned to Cebu in 1996, managing Interior Crafts of the Islands, Inc., which his mother Betty Cobonpue had founded in 1972
• Cobonpue discovered modern design by using natural fibers, creating functional art
• The KENNETHCOBONPUE® brand is recognized globally for its designs and roster of clients including Hollywood celebrities and royalty
• Kenneth Cobonpue integrates nature, traditional crafts, and technology, earning international awards
• He pushes design boundaries in the Philippines and shares his vision globally through collaborations with designers
• Awards include Five Japan Good Design Awards and the grand prize at Singapore International Design Competition
• His awards include The Design for Asia Award of Hong Kong, The American Society of Interior Design Top Pick selection, and the French Coup de Coeur award
• Kenneth's designs were selected for the International Design Yearbook which was published in London and New York
• A Phaidon book "& FORK" underscores his position as a leader in blending technology and design
• TIME magazine called him "rattan's first virtuoso" in 2007
• Kenneth was named Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet Asia in Singapore back in March 2014

Cary Santiago

• Best known as "Master Couturier," synonymous with laser-cut work after two decades in fashion
• His talent made him a famous Cebuano in high-fashion circles
• Santiago began his career designing for a Beirut haute couture house
• The designer was based in Dubai for about a decade
• His clothing style is classic, glamorous, and romantic
• He incorporates his style into shoes and bridal wear
• Cary won the 2004 Philippine Fashion Design Competition with a Pag-asa Philippine eagle-inspired terno
• The terno featured thousands of jusi pieces mounted on quills to mimic eagle feathers
• In 2010, he was chosen as a contestant for the Outstanding International Fashion Designer Award at the China Fashion Awards
• He is a mentor to designer John Herrera
• Santiago designs opulent creations from his Cebu City atelier located at 176 Juana Osmeña Street

Sinulog Festival in Cebu

• An annual religious and cultural festival held in Cebu
• Considered one of the well-known festivals in the Philippines
• The festival attracts 1 to 2 million visitors
• Known for street parties that occur before and during the celebration, outside the religious aspects
• It commemorates the Santo Niño de Cebu, a statue of the baby Jesus presented to Rajah Humabon of Cebu by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521
• The event marks an important moment in religious history, as it paved the way for Christianity in the country
• It was said that Queen Juana danced with joy upon receiving the holy image
• Baladhay, Rajah Humabon's adviser, inspired the Sinulog dance steps
• Humabon ordered his tribe to bring Baladhay to the the Santo Niño's room, Baladhay was heard shouting and was
• Baladhay explained that baby Jesus was tickling him, after dancing with the little child he explained movements of the river
• The dance involves two steps forward and one step backward movement, performed by devotees
• Sinulog comes from the Cebuano word "sulog," which means "like water current movement”
• The festival occurs every third Sunday of January, which is a good time to fully experience the events and explore
• The Grand Street Parade, the focal event, starts around 8 or 9 a.m. on the third Sunday of January
• On Sunday night, expect pyromusical shows featuring fireworks
• There are also a series of fun events organized in the days/weeks prior to the main festival
• Former Cebu City mayor Ronald Duterte and Jose P. Lardizabal, two of the original incorporators of the Sinulog foundation were acknowledged at Sinulog
• Ramon Durano III, Paterno Lu YM Sr., Esteban Go Sing King, Francisco L, Benedicto, Augusto W. Go, Joseph S. Gaisano, Lin S. Liu, and Segundino L. Go are all original incorporators of the Sinulog Foundation given a plaque for their assistance
• Honorable Florentino Solon, David S. Odilao Jr., Renato V. Osmeña, Dolores M. Suzara, Estelita "Inday Titang" Diola, Juan "Dodong" Aquino Jr. (Posthumous Award), Matias "Dandin" Ranillo, and Mike Hanopol were also distinguished for being pillars of the festival
• Dennis Navarro, Norman Navarro, Emelio “Jojin” Pascual, Victor Cuenco, Venancio Esparaguero Jr., Walter Betito, Valention “Val” San Diego and Melquiades "Myche" Gonzales Jr. (Posthumuous award) are choreographers recognised for 3+ prizes in the Sinulog Festival
