24 Questions

What is the primary purpose of the RJ-45 interface on an OAMP node?

To connect the OAMP node to the LAN for remote management

Which of the following is a characteristic of logs?

They report both active and historical events

What is the primary purpose of alarms and conditions?

To notify operators of real-time status of the node

What is required to configure an OAMP node's RJ-45 interface?

An IP address for node reachability

What is a common use case for logs?

Troubleshooting and auditing purposes

What is the primary benefit of using alarms and conditions?

Notifying operators of real-time status of the node

What is the primary function of the OAMP node's RJ-45 interface in relation to the LAN?

To connect the OAMP node to the LAN for remote management

What is a key difference between logs and alarms and conditions?

Logs are used for historical analysis, while alarms and conditions are used for real-time monitoring

What is the primary purpose of a Metro Area Network (MAN)?

To provide a high-bandwidth, low-latency communication infrastructure for businesses and organizations in a metropolitan area

What is the correct command to check for interface details?

show interface 11starla 1/17/L1 detail

What is the OAMP LAN interface used for?

Configuring an IP address for node reachability and management

What type of nodes are used in the metro area network?

A combination of OCS/SWDM and photonic nodes

What is the scope of a Metro Area Network (MAN)?

A metropolitan area

What is the purpose of a 'show interface' command?

To display detailed information about a specified interface

What is the function of an OAMP LAN interface in 1830 PSS nodes?

Node reachability and management

What type of information is displayed by the 'show interface' command?

Detailed information about the interface, including its status, configuration, and statistics

What is the purpose of node synchronization?

To keep the NFM-T database in sync with the nodes in the network

What is downloaded from the node during full node synchronization?

All items from the node, including NE parameters, ports, alarms, internal links, etc.

What is NOT a purpose of node synchronization?

To test the reachability of a node

What is the benefit of node synchronization?

Allows network administrators to ensure that their network is up to date and running efficiently

What is NOT downloaded from the node during full node synchronization?

Data not related to the node

Why is node synchronization important?

To keep track of any changes made to the nodes

What is NOT a result of node synchronization?

The time of the node is aligned with the time of the NFM-T platform

What is the outcome of full node synchronization?

All items from the node are downloaded to the NFM-T database

Study Notes

OAMP LAN Interface

  • An RJ-45 interface (common Ethernet port) used to connect one or more client ports (e.g., 1Gb/s or legacy 100Mbit/s client flows)
  • Used to connect the OAMP node to the LAN, allowing it to be managed and monitored remotely
  • Must be configured with an IP address for node reachability and management

Logs and Alarms

  • Logs: a record of events that have occurred within a system, including system activity, configuration changes, and error messages
  • Logs report both active (real-time) and historical events that have occurred within a system
  • Alarms and conditions: used to notify operators of real-time status of the node, such as when a threshold is breached or when a specific event occurs

Node Synchronization

  • Allows several entities/items defined at EPT level to be retrieved into the NFM-T database (upload from design)
  • Full synchronization retrieves all items from the node, including NE parameters, ports, alarms, internal links, etc.
  • Ensures that the NFM-T database is up to date and the network is running efficiently

GMRE Activation Status

  • Can be checked via ping request from NFM-T

Metro Area Network (MAN)

  • A telecommunications network that spans a metropolitan area and connects multiple local area networks (LANs) or business networks together
  • Typically covers an area larger than a LAN but smaller than a WAN

Interface Details

  • Command show interface 11starla 1/17/L1 detail is used to check for interface details, displaying information about the specified interface, including its status, configuration, and statistics
