Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS (NC2) runs the complete Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) stack on a bare-metal instance in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).

In NC2 on AWS, the Controller VM (CVM) and Nutanix AHV hypervisor are running on the bare-metal instance, just like a regular on-premises Nutanix deployment.

NC2 uses AHV for virtualization, similar to on-premises deployments, and connects to the AWS network via the Elastic Network Interface (ENI).

User VMs running on NC2 can access other EC2 instances and AWS services without additional configurations.

Nutanix recommends using Sync Replication to a cluster in a different AZ for data center-wide resilience, and Async Replication to a different Region for additional protection against disasters.

If a cluster loses rack awareness, an alert is displayed on the Prism Element web console. This can happen due to cluster capacity updates, node replacements, RF changes, or resource constraints in busy regions.
