NSTP Act of 2001 (RA 9163)

RA 9163 was signed into law by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2001.
It replaced the ROTC Program and was implemented in Academic year 2001-2002.

Declaration of Policy

The state shall promote civic consciousness, physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being among youth.
The state shall cultivate patriotism, nationalism, and youth involvement in public and civic affairs.

NSTP Components

NSTP is designed to enhance a youth's contribution to the general welfare.
NSTP has three program components:
- Military Training Service (MTS) / Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) - Provides military training to tertiary level students for national defense.
- Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) - Focuses on community welfare activities.
