Notary Public Seal Requirements
- A notary public is required to have and use a seal.
- The seal must be kept in a locked and secured area.
- It must be under the direct and exclusive control of the notary public.
- The seal must not be surrendered to an employer upon termination of employment, regardless of who paid for it, or to any other person.
- The rubber stamp seal is almost universal due to the legal requirement that the seal be photographically reproducible, though embossers can be used in addition to the rubber stamp.
