Origin Story

• Born from a stone on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit

Early Mischief

• Caused chaos in Heaven, stealing peaches of immortality and wine of the gods
• Erased his name from the Register of Death, making him immortal
• Was punished by the Buddha, who trapped him under a mountain for 500 years

Release and Redemption

• Freed by the monk Tang Sanzang (also known as Tripitaka) and his disciples
• Pledged to protect Tang Sanzang on his journey to India to retrieve Buddhist scriptures
• Was given the name Sun Wukong and a magical headband to control his behavior

Notable Adventures

• Defeated the White Bone Demon and her sisters
• Protected Tang Sanzang from the Red Boy and his mother, Princess Iron Fan
• Fought against the Bull Demon King and his wife, Princess Jade Face
• Retrieved the sacred scriptures from the Western Paradise with the help of the other disciples
