The Book of Revelation

John's Vision of Christ

• The first thing John sees in his vision is seven golden lampstands.
• God declares the church in Smyrna is rich despite being poor and afflicted.
• God knows the church in Sardis claims to be alive but is actually dead.
• John describes four living creatures: a lion, an ox, an eagle, and a lamb, covered in eyes front and back.
• The four creatures say "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come" day and night.

The Throne of God

• There are 24 thrones around the throne of God.
• The 24 elders are dressed in white and have gold crowns on their heads.

The Seven Seals

• There are seven seals in John's revelation.
• Jesus Christ is the one who has the revelation.

• The fourth seal represents death (pale horse).
• The second seal involves a red horse.

The Dragon and the Church

• In chapter 12 of Revelation, a sign in heaven (a red dragon) sweeps a third of the stars out of the sky and flings them to the earth.
• Jesus says he will spit out of his mouth those who are "lukewarm."

The Trumpets

• The first trumpet brings hail, fire mixed with blood.

The Angelic War

• In chapter 12 of Revelation, Michael and his angels fight against the dragon and his angels.

The Lamb and the Scroll

• The Lamb (Jesus) is the only one able to open the scroll in chapter 5 of Revelation.
• Each letter is addressed to the angel of the church.

Church Criticisms

• The church in Ephesus has left their first love.
• The Son of Man says to the church in Sardis, "Yet you have a few people who have not soiled their clothes."

The Purpose of Revelation

• The main point of Revelation is to reveal to everyone what must soon take place.
• The mark of the beast (Antichrist) is 666.
• Satan will be imprisoned for 1000 years.
• Jesus will reign for 1000 years during the millennium.
