Neuroanatomy: An Overview
Neuroanatomy is the branch of biology that deals with the study of the structure and organization of the nervous system. It is primarily concerned with the visual investigation of neural structure, with the motivation of deducing and formulating general organizational principles. This field of study is crucial for understanding how the brain and nervous system function, as well as for diagnosing and treating various neurological disorders.
The Nervous System
The nervous system is a complex network of nerves and cells that carries messages to and from the brain to the rest of the body. It is responsible for every thought, every feeling, and the vast majority of our actions. The nervous system is divided into two main parts: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
Central Nervous System (CNS)
The CNS includes the brain and the spinal cord. It is responsible for controlling and coordinating bodily functions, as well as for processing sensory information and generating motor responses. The CNS can be further divided into the hindbrain, the midbrain, and the forebrain. The hindbrain and midbrain are part of the brainstem, which is responsible for autonomic processes and information conduction to the PNS. Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)

Neurons
