    NTA Administration

    • The National Testing Agency (NTA) is governed by a board with R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), as the first chairman.

    Eligibility Criteria for NET

    • Candidates must have at least 55% marks in a Master's degree or equivalent from a recognized university in Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc., to be eligible for the National Eligibility Test (NET).
    • A 5% relaxation is provided for reserved categories.
    • Candidates pursuing their Master's degree or equivalent course must meet all eligibility criteria.
    • They must complete their Master's degree or equivalent within two years of the NET result, maintaining the required percentage of marks, or they will be disqualified.
    • Ph.D. degree holders who completed their Master's level examination by 19th September 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%).
