Neem Tree
- Neem is an old tree, born millions of years ago in North India or Myanmar
- Spread across Asia, Africa, and some parts of America
- Known by many names around the world, including Arishta, Nimba, Nimbaca (Sanskrit), Nim (Hindi), Nimb (Iran)
- Scientists call it "bitter grace of God", "nature's gift to man", "cleanliness-parting tree", "magic tree", and "the tree of the twentieth century"
Neem Uses
- Neem leaves are used to make medicines to cure diseases and fight germs
- Neem leaves provide comfort and can be used to treat measles
- Neem bark is used to cure cough and difficulty breathing
- Neem flower kajal is used to cure itchy eyes
- Neem seed powder mixed in water can be sprayed on plants to prevent locust attacks
- Neem seed powder added to stagnant water in rice fields prevents mosquito breeding and increases crop yield
- Neem seed powder can also be mixed in stored grains to prevent insect damage
