National Service Training Program (NSTP)

• The NSTP is a mandatory program for baccalaureate degree students and two-year technical-vocational courses.
• NSTP components include the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC), Literacy Training Services (LTS), and Civic Welfare Training Services (CWTS).
• ROTC is optional and voluntary.

Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 9163

• All incoming freshmen students, regardless of gender, must participate in the NSTP, starting in School Year 2002-2003.
• The program is applicable to students enrolled in baccalaureate and two-year technical-vocational courses.
• The IRR of RA 9163 was developed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of National Defense (DND), Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), Coordinating Council of Private Educational Association of the Philippines (COCOPEA), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Legal Basis

• Batas Pambansa Bilang 323 (BP 323) highlights the duty and responsibility of students to participate in civic affairs and contribute to the general welfare of the community.
• Students are encouraged to be involved in social, economic, and cultural development, working toward a just, compassionate, and orderly society.

Radio Telephone Procedures

• Call signs are used to identify radio stations and prevent unauthorized access to the network.
• Pro-words are standardized phrases used to expedite message handling.
• Pro-words replace long sentences for clarity and efficiency.
• They prevent misunderstandings between radio operators and minimize repetition.
• Pro-words include "OVER" for "My transmission is ended, and I expect a response from you", "OUT" for "My transmission is ended, and I expect no response from you (I will turn off the radio set)", and "ROGER" for "I have received your last transmission satisfactorily".

Intelligence Collection

• Intelligence specialists are individuals trained in specialized aspects of intelligence gathering. They work within the military organization.
• Examples include Operations and Intelligence (OB) specialists, interrogators, and photo interpreters.
• The process of evaluating information involves determining its relevance, value, source reliability, credibility, and accuracy.
• Evaluation Rating helps assess the reliability of a source and agency, with categories A-F for reliability and 1-4 for probable accuracy.
• Dissemination involves transmitting information and intelligence to relevant units (higher, lower, and adjacent) for potential use.
• Dissemination should be timely and appropriate, ensuring information reaches the correct users.

General Guidelines for Drills

• "AS YOU WERE" is used to cancel a movement or order that has not been completed.
• Units are numbered from right to left and front to rear during counting.
• Troops move by the most direct route unless specified otherwise.
• All facing and direction changes must be executed according to drill procedures.
• Rifles are positioned at right shoulder arms, swords at carry, and pistols in holsters during drills.
• Facing movements by commanders of armed troops can be executed at right shoulder arms.
• Commands of execution are synchronized with foot movements during marching, given as the left foot strikes the deck for movements to the left, and the right foot for those to the right.
• Cadence should be at quick time during drill commands, even if marching isn't involved.
• The unit commander's position during marching is in the rear one-third of the unit, three places from the unit.

Protective Measures: Personal Hygiene and Sanitation

• Maintaining good hygiene is essential for strength and effectiveness, especially in combat.
• Soldiers should bathe daily or at least clean their feet, hands, and private parts.
• Regular exercise is crucial for muscle and joint health, as inactivity can be detrimental.
• Avoiding venereal diseases (STD) is important by avoiding contact with infected individuals.
• Early detection and treatment of STDs are more effective.
• Setting a positive example of personal cleanliness and sanitary discipline is essential.
• Soldiers should bathe, shave, and wear clean clothes regularly to maintain high standards of hygiene.
