Basic Features of MS Word 2019 for Grade 4
Starting MS Word
- To open MS Word, click on the Start button, then All Apps, and select Microsoft Word 2019
- Alternatively, you can type "Word" in the search bar and click on the Microsoft Word 2019 icon
Interface Overview
- The MS Word screen is divided into several sections:
- Title Bar: displays the document title and has the minimize, maximize, and close buttons
- Menu Bar: provides access to different menus such as File, Home, Insert, and more
- ** Ribbon**: a tabbed toolbar that displays various tools and options
- Workspace: where you type and edit your document
- Status Bar: displays information about your document, such as the page number and word count
Basic Text Editing
- Typing: simply click in the workspace and start typing
- Selecting Text: click and drag your mouse to select a group of words or characters

Cut, Copy, and Paste:
- Cut: delete selected text and store it in the clipboard (Ctrl + X)
- Copy: copy selected text to the clipboard (Ctrl + C)
- Paste: insert copied text into your document (Ctrl + V)
- Undo and Redo: use the undo button or press Ctrl + Z to undo changes, and the redo button or press Ctrl + Y to redo changes
Saving and Printing
- Saving: click on the File tab, then select Save As, and choose a location and file name
- Printing: click on the File tab, then select Print, and choose your printer and print options
