Geography and History

The Mountain Province is a landlocked province in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon, Philippines.
The province is bounded by Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, and Ilocos Sur.
The province was named after the Cordillera Central mountain range.
The region was founded by American forces in 1907, and the old province was established in 1908.
The province has undergone several divisions and reorganizations, with the current composition of 2 districts, 10 municipalities, and 144 barangays.
