  • Bounce Mix dialog box:
    • File Name: Name the output file
    • File Type: Output file format (e.g., WAV)
    • Mix Source: Selected output (used to listen)
      • Incorrect source may produce a silent mixdown
    • Audio: Options include compression type (usually greyed out), MP3 addition, file format, and bit depth (16, 24, or 32-bit float)
      • File Format: Options:
        • Mono (summed)
        • Multiple Mono (left/right individual files)
        • Interleaved (stereo in one file)
    • Sample Rate: Choose the output sample rate (varies based on audio interface)
    • Pad to Frame Boundary: To match video standards (only when audio is for video)
    • Location: Destination for output files (Session Folder, Prompt for Location, Custom Directory.
      • Import After Bounce: Imports file to a new track (only if the sample rate matches)

Archiving

  • Save Copy In creates a duplicate of the session, preserving all media in a self-contained copy
  • File > Save Copy In
    • Format: Choose current or older Pro Tools format. Older formats may exclude features. - Session Parameters: Customize file type, sample rate, bit depth
      • Items to copy: Select files to include in the copy (Audio Files, Movie/Video Files)
    • Saves to a location of choice

Archiving additional Tips

  • Clearing unused clips: Remove unused clips via Clips List pop-up menu -> Select -> Unused
    • Clear removes subset clips, Delete removes whole files and subsets
  • Compacting files: Efficient reduction done in Save Copy In, removing unused audio parts while retaining a copy.
