International Mining Student Speeches and Oral Exam Schedule

• Block lectures for International Mining will take place on Thursdays from November 3rd to December 15th, with a duration of 9:00 to 12:30, including a break.
• Student speeches are scheduled for January 12th and 19th, and registration for speech is required in the stoodle list (StudIP) by November 16th.
• Topic proposals for the speech must be submitted via email by November 30th.
• Speeches will be graded, with 50% weightage for the speech and 50% for the oral exam, which can only be taken after the speech is graded.
• Students need to schedule an individual exam date and officially register at the examination office at least 14 days in advance through the online portal.
• The speech duration is 10 minutes, with a degradation of 0.7 for any deviation from the time frame, and speeches will be interrupted at 10 minutes.
• A discussion will follow each speech, lasting around 5 minutes.
• Students have the freedom to choose their speech style and can use optional sheets, such as maps, if necessary.
• Speech topics must be related to mining and need to be proposed to the lecturer via email, with topic acceptance being required.
• Examples of speech subjects include sharing internship experiences in a mining operation, providing an overview of mining projects (e.g., Olympic Dam, Chuquicamata), and discussing mining types such as Artisanal Mining and Offshore mining.
