HHG Transportation and NTS Authorization

  • Service members authorized Household Goods (HHG) transportation to a Home of Service (HOS) are also authorized Non-Temporary Storage (NTS).
  • NTS authorization ends one year from the termination date.

HHG Transportation Turn-In Deadline

  • HHG transportation must be turned over to a Transportation Officer within one year of the divorce decree OR six months after the service member's personal travel from the Pre-Deployment Station (PDS) Outside CONUS (OCONUS) due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), whichever date is earlier.

  • From enlisted or warrant officer to commissioned officer, or from enlisted to warrant officer, the greater of the weight allowance for the pay grade held on the effective date of the PCS order or for the pay grade held when the appointment was accepted, is authorized.   • Unaccompanied baggage of up to 350 pounds may be transported for each authorized trip between the school and the service member's PDS.

  • A dependent must not be provided transportation under this paragraph unless the service member has been assigned to the ship for more than 30 consecutive days.

COT Leave Eligibility

  • IPCOT (Individual Pre-Deployment Conus Tour): Eligible for COT Leave if the tour is unaccompanied.
  • Conus Tour Combined: Eligible for COT Leave if both tours are accompanied, and the total time served at the PDS is greater than the length of the unaccompanied tour.

    • A service member with two dependents, one over 12 and one under 12 is 125%
    • TLE may be temporarily increased for up to 60 days for a PCS move to a new CONUS PDS in a Presidentially declared disaster area, experiencing a sudden increase in Service members, or housing shortage.
    • If Government quarters are available at the old or new PDS and the Service member chooses to stay in other lodgings, reimbursement is limited to the Government quarters cost or the locality lodging rate, whichever is lower.

TLE Extension Authorization

  • Officials may authorize extended TLE in 10-day increments up to a maximum of 60 total TLE days.

ERD Travel Delegation

  • O5 or higher is delegated authority for ERD travel when dependents travel to CONUS.

Divorce Decree Travel Timeline

  • Travel must be completed within one year after the final divorce decree or annulment’s effective date or 6 months after the date the Service member completes personal PCS travel from the PDS OCONUS, whichever occurs first.

Dependent Travel Extension

  • On a case-by-case basis, and only when the delay is not for personal preference, the commanding officer or designated representative at the duty location at or near the former dependent’s location may authorize an extension up to 6 additional months.
