Ways to Open Microsoft PowerPoint

• Click File.
• Select Open.

How to Save Presentations

• Save: Save changes to the current presentation.
• Save As: Save the presentation with a new name, or save a copy for the first time.

Steps to "Save As"

• Go to File and select Save As.
• Click Browse and pick a save location.
• Enter a file name.
• Select the file type
• Click Save.

Available "Save As" File Types:

• PowerPoint Presentation (.pptx): For PowerPoint 2010 and later.
• PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (.ppt): For older versions of PowerPoint.
• PDF (.pdf): A non-editable document format.
• MPEG-4 Video (.mp4): To save as a video file, playable on video players.
• WMV (.wmv): Another video format.
• JPEG (.jpeg): To save slides as image files.

• The find function locates a certain word or piece of text in the document
• Replace one word/piece of text with some new text.

Insert Tab function

• Insert - Utilises tools to insert items like tables, pictures, and illustrations.
• Table: Allows one to insert a table into the presentation.
• Picture: This allows one to insert a picture, the below guidelines need to be followed to perform such action.
  • Place cursor.
  • Go file, insert, then picture.
  • Choose the picture from its location on the device.
  • Select Open.
• Chart: In graphics, it is possible to represent them by way of lines, bars, pie charts etc., here are the steps for that.
  • Place the cursor.
  • Go File, Insert, and then select Chart
  • Choose the chart you feel is optimal and press ok.
• SmartArt - Shapes and preset drawn art which make complex points easy to convey with ease and clear visuals for the slides.

Design Tab

• To control the look of your slides, this includes: backdrop, shading and layout of your current slide, to use this feature you must follow these steps below.
  • Themes - Add shading to the current slide/s from the template that the program provides.
  • To save a certain look, consider the Variants, to change the font or general look.
  • Slide size will the scale the horizontal/vertical look of your slider for presentation.
  • Format the backdrop utilising a picture, colour or shade for easy viewing pleasure.

Transitions Tab

• Controls slide alternation.
  • First to be able to use the tool select transition to this slide, and choose your transition.
  • A transition sound can also be added under the Sound tab.
  • One can also define transition duration with the duration tab.
  • To apply the transition to the entire show, press apply to All.
