Quick Access Toolbar
- Enables and disables AutoSave feature in MS Word, available in Microsoft Office 365.
- Requires saving the document in the cloud, where MS Word automatically saves the file every few seconds.
Tab Menu
- Consists of several tabs: Home, Insert, Design, Layout, References, Mailings, Review, View, and Help.
- Each tab has a specific function and command buttons with common functionalities.
Home Tab
- Standard view of Microsoft Word.
- Includes groups of commands:
- Clipboard: cut, copy, paste, and format painter buttons.
- Font: change and modify font face, size, color, and style.
- Paragraph: insert ordered and unordered lists or bullets, change paragraph alignment, and set paragraph line spacing.
- Styles: assign Normal, No Spacing to a paragraph, and different types of Heading and Title.
Insert Tab
- Contains additives for the document, such as:
- Blank pages, tables, illustrations, hyperlinks, header & footer, text box, and symbols.
Design Tab
- Used for document formatting, including:
- Setting themes, colors, and fonts.
- Adding a watermark, modifying page color and page borders.
Layout Tab
- Contains icons for page setup and paragraph actions, including:
- Margin, Orientation, Size, and Columns.
- Arrange group for setting the position and wrap text layout of an image.
References Tab
- Used for adding:
- Table of Contents, Footnotes, Bibliographic Information, Indexes, and Citations.
Mailings Tab
- Used for post-office related tasks, such as:
- Creating custom envelopes, labels, certificates, and mails.
Review Tab
- Includes features for:
- Spelling & Grammar check.
- Built-in Thesaurus and Dictionary.
- Tracking Changes, Checking Word Count, and Adding/Showing Comments.
- Restrict Editing to set a password to a document.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Various shortcuts for common actions, including:
- Selecting all contents (Ctrl + A).
- Copying (Ctrl + C), Cutting (Ctrl + X), and Pasting (Ctrl + V) text.
- Undoing (Ctrl + Z) and Redoing (Ctrl + Y) last action.
- Formatting text with bold (Ctrl + B), italic (Ctrl + I), and underline (Ctrl + U).
- Increasing (Ctrl + ]) and Decreasing (Ctrl + [) font size.
View Tab
- Allows changing the view of the document in:
- Read Mode.
- Print Layout.
- Web Layout.
MS Word Ribbon Commands
- Application button presents a menu of commands that involve doing something to or with a document or workspace.
- Quick Access Toolbar displays frequently used commands.
- Core tabs are always displayed.
