Entering Data into Multiple Cells
- Select multiple non-adjacent cells using CTRL
- Type the data and press CTRL+ENTER to enter the same data into all selected cells
Filling in Data on Adjacent Cells
- Select the cell(s) containing the starting values
- Drag the fill handle over the range of cells to fill
- To fill in increasing order, drag down or to the right
- To fill in decreasing order, drag up or to the left
Examples of Filling in Series
- Enter 2 and 3 in the first two cells to fill in the series 2, 3, 4, 5, ...
- Enter 2 and 4 in the first two cells to fill in the series 2, 4, 6, 8, ...
- Enter 2 in the first cell and leave the second cell blank to fill in the series 2, 2, 2, ...
Automatically Filling in Repeated Entries
- If the first few characters typed in a cell match an existing entry in that column, Excel fills in the remaining characters
- Excel completes only entries that contain text or a combination of text and numbers
- Press ENTER to accept the completed entry
- The completed entry exactly matches the pattern of uppercase and lowercase letters of the existing entries
- Continue typing to replace the automatically entered characters
- Press BACKSPACE to delete the automatically entered characters
