- Inoculating loop/wire loop is commonly used for handling, isolating, transferring, and cultivating microbes.
- Inoculating needle is used for stabbing bacteria vertically into deep tube of media (gelatin) to determine the shape of the hole digested by the bacteria.
- Spreader/L-shape glass rods are used for spreading bacteria in a plate and can be used during sampling instead of inoculating loops.
Laboratory Equipment
- Autoclave is a device that uses steam to sterilize equipment and objects, inactivating bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores.
Media Types
- General or Non-selective media may be used for growth of bacteria that do not need enrichment of the media.
