Methocarbamol Overview

Generic name: Methocarbamol

Indications

Provides relief for discomfort from acute musculoskeletal conditions as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other treatments
Used in conjunction with conventional therapy for treating tetanus

Dosing

Acute Conditions:
- Oral: Initial dosage of 1500 mg four times daily; maintenance dose ranges from 750 mg to 1000 mg four times daily
- IV/IM: Initial dose of 10 mL with a maximum limit of 30 mL per day
Tetanus:
- Start with 30 mL IV every 6 hours; switch to crushed oral tablets as soon as possible with a maximum daily dosage of 24 grams

Available Strengths and Dosage Forms

Tablets: Available in 500 mg and 750 mg strengths
Injection: Delivered in 100 mg/mL formulation contained in 10 mL single-dose vials
