- Self-esteem is the degree to which one respects and feels confident about oneself.
- Characteristics of self-esteem include selecting friends who respect and value you.
- Reasons for staying in abusive relationships can include fear of losing a partner or feeling unable to find someone else.
- A helpful skill for conflict resolution is decision-making.
- Physical abuse is intentionally causing bodily harm or injury to another person.
- Emotional abuse is attacking someone's emotional development and self-worth.
- Date rape is forcing sexual contact against a person's will.
- Sexual abuse is unwanted sexual behavior by one person toward another.
