    Flashcards

    Median Nerve Root Value

C5-T1, which indicates the spinal segments contributing to the median nerve.

    Formation of Median Nerve

Formed by the lateral and medial cords of the brachial plexus.

    Median Nerve Branches

No branches are present in the axilla or arm for the median nerve.

    Study Notes

    Median Nerve

    • Root value: C5-T1
    • Origin: formed by lateral and medial cords of the brachial plexus
    • Branches: no branches in the axilla or the arm
    • Supplies:
      • Primary nerve of the anterior forearm, supplying all muscles in this compartment, except flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) and the medial half of flexor digitorum profundus (FDP).
      • Frequently co-innervates the FDP part inserting into the 3rd digit.
      • Supplies the three thenar muscles, excluding the deep head of flexor pollicis brevis, and the first two lumbricals of the hand.
