Mechanical Contractor Requirements

A contractor of record is not required in facilities employing a qualified maintenance crew (339.5809).
Only an individual person can hold a mechanical license (339.5807).
Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience to qualify for the Mechanical Exam (339.5807 item 1).
A permit is necessary for installations of appliances outside (101.2.4 2015 IFGC).

Licensing and Permits

Homeowners may legally perform mechanical work without a license (339.5819), except on rental properties.
Licensing fee is $300, applicable for both initial applications and renewals (339.5813).
