Introduction to Division

• Division is the opposite of multiplication
• It is a way of sharing or grouping a certain number of objects into equal parts or groups

Vocabulary

• Dividend: the number being divided
• Divisor: the number by which we are dividing
• Quotient: the result of the division
• Remainder: the amount left over when the division is not exact

• Repeated subtraction: division can be thought of as repeated subtraction
