Lodge Protocol
- Brethren wait at the Temple entrance
- The M.C. introduces members in the following order:
- Entered Apprentices (E.As.)
- Fellow Crafts (F.Cs.)
- Master Masons (M.Ms.) who are not Officers
- Officers, excluding the Worshipful Master (W.M.)
- Each Brother proceeds to their designated place and stands until the M.C. escorts the W.M. to his Chair
- All members sit once the W.M. is seated
- From then on, the Lodge remains "squared" at all times, except when the Orator adjusts the three Great Lights
The Brethren in the Temple
- The Brethren wait at the entrance to the Temple before the meeting
- The M.C. introduces the members in a specific order:
- Entered Apprentices (E.As.)
- Fellow Crafts (F.Cs.)
- Master Masons (M.Ms.) who are not Officers
- Officers (excluding the Worshipful Master)
Taking Place in the Lodge
- Each Brother goes to their designated place and waits, standing, until the M.C. conducts the W.M. to his Chair
- All Brethren sit when the W.M. is seated
- From then onwards, the Lodge is always squared, except when the Orator arranges the three Great Lights
Tiling the Lodge
- The Inner Guard (I.G.) ensures the Lodge is properly tiled
- The I.G. rises, draws a sword, and goes to the door
- The I.G. instructs the Tyler to tile the lodge
- The lodge is tiled by one knock from the Tyler and one from the I.G.
- The I.G. reports after the lodge is tiled
Preparing the Lodge
- Brethren wait at the Temple entrance, introduced by the Master of Ceremonies (M.C.) in the following order: Entered Apprentices (E.As.), Fellow Crafts (F.Cs.), Master Masons (M.Ms.) who are not Officers, and finally Officers (excluding the Worshipful Master, W.M.).
- Each Brother proceeds to their place and stands until the W.M. is seated, after which everyone sits.
Tiling the Lodge
- The Inner Guard (I.G.) ensures the Lodge is properly tiled, rising and approaching the door with a drawn sword at the "carry" position.
- The I.G. instructs the Tyler to tile the Lodge, which is accomplished by one knock from the Tyler and one from the I.G.
Second Care of the Lodge
- The W.M. asks the Junior Warden (J.W.) about the second care of the Lodge of E.A. Freemasons.
- The J.W. replies that the second care is to see that all present are Freemasons.
Verification of Freemasons
- The W.M. tasks the J.W. and Senior Warden (S.W.) to attend to the duty of verifying Freemasons.
- The J.W. confirms that all in the North Column are Freemasons.
- The S.W. confirms that all in the North and South Columns are Freemasons.
- The W.M. recognizes all in the East as Freemasons.
Lodge Protocols
- When the W.M. gives the order, Brethren rise and face East, with each coming to order as the Warden approaches them.
- The W.M. and Brethren in the East stand to order.
