  • Safety needs involve the desire for a safe and secure environment

    • Actions motivated by safety needs include finding a job, obtaining health insurance, healthcare, and moving to a safer neighborhood
    • When these needs are not met, the individual feels fear and anxiety

Love and Belonging Needs

  • This is the third level in Maslow's hierarchy of needs
  • Involves the need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance
  • Includes feeling loved and feeling love towards others
  • Motivated by the natural instinct of humans to interact
  • Includes romantic relationships, connections to family and friends, and feeling part of a social group
  • When these needs are not met, the individual feels lonely and depressed

Esteem Needs
