Management of the Fourth Stage of Labor

The fourth stage of labor occurs immediately after the delivery of the placenta and usually lasts for about 1 to 4 hours.

Maternal vital signs should be checked every 5 to 15 minutes.

Vaginal bleeding should be evaluated every 5 to 15 minutes immediately after the birth of the infant.
