Study Notes
Lost or Stolen Items
- Lost or stolen inventory items are replaced after submitting a requisition through proper channels to the Bureau Commander.
- An F-225 letterhead report is required any time an inventory item is lost or stolen.
- If an inventory item valued at $25 or more is lost or stolen, a report must be filed with the local Police Department and the report number included in the F-225.
- Battalion/Section Commanders must conduct a thorough investigation of any property loss and report findings, including negligence or carelessness of personnel.
- Radios loaned from allied agencies must be promptly reported to the Metro Battalion Chief by the Administrative Battalion Chief if lost or stolen.
- A report on the loss must be submitted by the Battalion/Section Commander, either as an addition to the original report or as a separate F-225 letterhead report.
Turn-ins and Supplies
- Surplus expendable items must be turned into S&M when no longer of value; requires a SRS requisition with current stock codes for the return.
- New items can be obtained without needing to turn in old items.
- Specific items to turn in include reusable metal or glass containers for flammable liquids and damaged U.S. flags.
Inventory Item Procedures
- Inventory items are categorized in the SRS Catalog of Supplies and must be handled through defined procedures including Original Issue, Temporary Issue, Exchange or Repair, and Emergency Issue.
Original Issue
- Requests for original inventory items must be made using an SRS requisition accompanied by an F-225 to the Bureau Commander.
- Procurement of non-budgeted items requires confirmation of available funds from the Stores Supervisor or Assistant Division Commander.
- Evaluation and approval of requests must be performed by Chief Officers, considering pros and cons before final approval.
Exchange or Repair of Items
- A "turn-in" process for items needing repair or exchange is mandated, tagging items with F-175 for identification.
- Items can be exchanged during S&M hours; if not available, they'll be repaired and returned when ready.
- If an item cannot be repaired, the requesting unit is notified to submit a requisition for a replacement.
Temporary Issue of Inventory Items
- Temporary loan items can replace inventory items sent for repair; these are issued with a loan slip.
- Each loan is limited to a 30-day period, extendable with required notation.
- Upon repair, the original item is returned, and the loaner is tagged and returned to S&M.
Permanent Issue of Loaned Equipment
- If a loaned item cannot be repaired and no equivalent is available, it is placed into permanent inventory.
- The concerned station or unit must initiate an SRS requisition for both inventory credit and addition.
