London Conference (November 1947)
- The Big Four (US, UK, USSR, France) met to discuss a solution for post-war Germany.
- The US favored Western European integration, while the USSR sought to prevent a German division. The Soviet Union's industrialized area was in the western part of Germany.
- The Soviet Union tried to sway public opinion through Walter Ulbricht, leader of the Socialist Unity Party (SED).
