Cesare Lombroso - Father of Modern Criminology
- Italian criminologist, scientist, university professor, prison doctor and founder of criminal anthropology
- Studied criminal behavior using modern scientific methods
- Credited with establishing the Italian School of Criminology
- Primarily known for the theory of atavism, which linked criminal behavior to physical characteristics
- Claimed criminals are identifiable through "atavistic stigmata" - physical features inherited from primitive humans

Lombroso's Theory of Criminals
- Born Criminals: Individuals with at least five (5) atavistic stigmata.
- Insane Criminals: Those who become criminals due to brain changes impairing their ability to differentiate between right and wrong.
- Criminaloids: Complicated group encompassing habitual criminals, criminals driven by passion, and other diverse types.
- Pseudo- Criminals: Individuals who commit crimes out of self-defense.
