Leveling Procedures for Airplanes
- Airplanes must be leveled longitudinally and laterally for weighing and rigging procedures.
- Leveling can be performed:
- While on jacks
- During weighing with wheels on scales
- When wheels are on the ground
Lateral Leveling
- Use a spirit level across the baggage compartment floor at the rear bulkhead.
- If the bubble is not centered:
- Deflate the tire on the higher side of the airplane.
- Alternatively, adjust the jack until the bubble centers.
Longitudinal Leveling
- Locate the two leveling screws beneath the left front side window.
- Partially withdraw these screws to prepare for leveling.
- Use a spirit level on the screw heads for accuracy.
- If the bubble is not centered:
- Deflate the nose wheel tire.
- Adjust the jacks as necessary to achieve a centered bubble.
