Study Notes
Intuitive Thinking
- Intuitive thinking is the kind of thinking that helps understand reality in the moment, without logic or analysis, and is entirely about signs and sensations.
- It is similar to doctors' "clinical eye" or being a "visionary."
The Four Types of Intuitive Thinking
- Emotional Intuitive Thinking: the ability to immediately pick up on other people's personality traits or emotional states without them having to say anything.
- Mental Intuitive Thinking: finding an immediate answer to a problem without analyzing it, common in people with jobs that require quick decisions.
- Psychic Intuitive Thinking: having the ability to choose the best path to overcome a personal difficulty without putting much mental effort into it, and being able to pick up on social and work-related dynamics.
- Spiritual Intuitive Thinking: related to states of "enlightenment" or "revelations," and is more of an experience than a fact.
Strategic Thinking
- Strategic thinking is the ability to plan for the future and prepare strategies and conjure ideas that will cope with changing environments and consider the various challenges that lie ahead.
- It involves being able to envision new solutions to old problems and constantly reinvent one's point of view in a way that is unique and beneficial to the organization.
Four Key Qualities of Strategic Thinkers
- Strategic thinkers are always learning and committing to constant self-improvement, and do not dismiss any potential sources of education.
- They seek advice from others, welcome feedback, and test ideas and concepts to make their plans and strategies as robust and steadfast as possible.
- Strategic thinkers are not afraid to take risks, understanding that professional excellence does not always emerge from a cookie-cutter approach.
- They never forget their organizational purpose and prioritize it in their strategic thinking and planning.
