Abstract: This document specifies technical specifications and inspection criteria for LED signal lamps for main colour light signals (integrated) for railway signalling.

Foreword

Scope: This specification covers general and technical requirements of LED signal lamps for main colour light signals (Integrated) for railway signalling application in RE & Non-RE areas of Indian Railways, and covers high-speed lines.
Standards: It references RDSO/SPN/144/2006 (safety and reliability), STS/E/Relays/AC Lit LED Signal/09-2002, IRS:S23, BS 1376:1974, CENELEC Standard EN 50126, CENELEC Standard EN 50129, IEC 127.

Terminology

Blanking/Non-Blanking Modes: A signal is in blanking mode when the input signal to the current regulator falls outside the specified limits; the illumination decreases to less than 40% of the nominal illumination, causing the signal lamp to extinguish. In non-blanking mode, the signal lamp remains lit despite similar input conditions. This helps to ensure the signal remains lit to avoid confusing situations for train drivers.

General Requirements

Minimum Visibility: 600m in clear daylight.
