Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF)

MAGTF is the principal organization of the Marine Corps for various military operations.
Comprised of forces organized under one commander, enabling rapid response globally.
Consists of four core elements: Command Element (CE), Aviation Combat Element (ACE), Ground Combat Element (GCE), and Logistics Combat Element (LCE).
Structure is mission-dependent but remains fundamentally consistent.

Command Element (CE)

Logistics Combat Element (LCE)

Varies from small detachments to larger service support groups.
Provides critical support services such as supply, maintenance, transportation, engineering, and health services.
May include additional service or multinational forces in joint operations.

Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF)

Largest MAGTF configuration, organized for significant crises and warfighting.
Consists of a permanent command element, one or more Marine divisions, aircraft wings, and logistics groups.
Capable of a wide range of operations including amphibious assaults and sustained ashore operations.
Operates from sea or land bases, adaptable to joint and multinational environments.

Components of the MEF

Typically commanded by a lieutenant general, with personnel ranging from 20,000 to 90,000.
MEF structure includes:
- Command Element (CE): MEF staff commands.
- Ground Combat Element (GCE): Typically a Marine division.
- Aviation Combat Element (ACE): Usually a Marine aircraft wing.
- Logistics Combat Element (LCE): Generally a Marine logistics group.
Marine Expeditionary Brigades (MEBs) are integral to each MEF, providing additional operational capabilities.
