    Study Notes

    • To create a web site header copy the settings you see in the screen.
    • A full size header is size 1024 x 256 pixels.
    • For the resolution choose 100, then click on OK.
    • To add your picture, click on File, then Place Embedded.
    • Click on the fall picture and click OK.
    • You’ll notice the image is smaller than your document.
    • Use the transform handles in the corners to make your image larger to fill up the whole document.
    • When you are finished resizing press “Enter” on your keyboard.
    • Your layer palette should look like this.
    • We don’t need the background layer anymore.
    • A cool way to delete a layer is simply to drag the background layer to the trash can.
    • Now you should see only one layer named fall.
    • We want to make a duplicate of this layer.
    • Right-click the layer and choose Duplicate.
    • Now you have two layers.
    • The original fall layer is on the bottom, and fall copy is above it.
    • The layer you just added is transparent, we need to fill it with color.
    • Click on the fill bucket then press “D” on your keyboard to make sure the colors are in default: white foreground and black background.
    • Now press “X” to make black the foreground color.
    • Click on the top layer which should be fall copy. This is necessary so our text appears above all the layers otherwise you won’t be able to see it.
    • Click on the horizontal type tool.
    • With the Type Tool selected, go up to the Options Bar at the top of the screen and choose whichever font you want; remember fonts with thick letters work best.
